چکیده
Samarium substituted bismuth ferrite (BiFeO3) ceramics prepared by sol-gel synthesis method were studied using both local scale and microscopic measurement techniques in order to clarify an evolution of the crystal structure compounds across morphotropic phase boundary region. X-ray diffraction analysis, transmission scanning electron microscopies, XPS, EDS/EDX experiments piezoresponse force microscopy used study structural transitions from polar active rhombohedral anti-polar orthorhombic then non-polar phase, observed Bi1?xSmxFeO3 within concentration range 0.08 ? x 0.2. The results obtained testify that 0.12 0.15 are characterized two state formed a coexistence phases; with 0.15<x<0.18 is associated phases. Local measurements have revealed notable difference ascribed estimated measurements, wider different phases, background mentioned discussed.

Piezoelectric Ceramics with Compositions at the Morphotropic Phase Boundary in the BiFeO3–PbZrO3–PbTiO3 Ternary System
Since ceramics in the PbZrO3–PbTiO3 binary system display excellent piezoelectric properties and those in BiFeO3–PbTiO3 exhibit high Curie temperatures, morphotropic phase boundary (MPB) compositions in the BiFeO3–PbZrO3–PbTiO3 ternary solid solution system are investigated for the development of piezoelectric ceramics for high temperature applications. It is found that the MPB compositions in ...
متن کاملA strain-driven morphotropic phase boundary in BiFeO3.
Piezoelectric materials, which convert mechanical to electrical energy and vice versa, are typically characterized by the intimate coexistence of two phases across a morphotropic phase boundary. Electrically switching one to the other yields large electromechanical coupling coefficients. Driven by global environmental concerns, there is currently a strong push to discover practical lead-free pi...

متن کاملTuning the electrocaloric enhancement near the morphotropic phase boundary in lead-free ceramics
The need for more energy-efficient and environmentally-friendly alternatives in the refrigeration industry to meet global emission targets has driven efforts towards materials with a potential for solid state cooling. Adiabatic depolarisation cooling, based on the electrocaloric effect (ECE), is a significant contender for efficient new solid state refrigeration techniques. Some of the highest ...
متن کاملMatrix Characterization , Including Losses , of Porous PZT based ceramics with Morphotropic Phase Boundary Composition : Key Issues
An iterative automatic method is used to calculate, from impedance measurements at resonance in three sample shapes and four modes of resonance, all the directly obtained coefficients that are needed to determine the ten elastic, dielectric and piezoelectric complex coefficients of the characteristic matrix of a 6mm symmetry ferro-piezoelectric ceramic for a controlled porosity material. A soft...
